Abuja, Jan. 16, 2026 (NAN) Sports entrepreneur, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, has presented the Gombe Emir’s Cup Football Competition to the Emir of Gombe during a courtesy visit.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gara Gombe, former chairman of Gombe State Athletics and Football Associations, led a delegation to the Emir’s palace to appreciate the royal father’s leadership.
The visit also featured the presentation of gift items to commemorate the occasion and strengthen ties between sports stakeholders and traditional institutions.
A major highlight was the unveiling of the Gombe Emir’s Cup, designed to foster competition among Emirates and Chiefdoms in Gombe State.
The tournament aims to promote unity, culture, youth development, football growth and oneness among traditional institutions in the state.
Gara Gombe also announced the establishment of an AFCON viewing centre at the Emir’s palace for football fans.
The centre allows fans to watch AFCON matches, including the Super Eagles’ clash against Morocco.
NAN also reports that the Chairman and CEO of Green White Green Sports Centre Ltd. remains an enigma and a driving force in sports sponsorship, development and management in Gombe State; a status his passion for sports will not abate in the nearest future.(NAN)
