Casablanca (Morocco), Jan. 16, 2026 (NAN) The Confederation of African Sports Supporters (CASS) has confirmed the appointment of Rev. Samuel Ikpea as Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Sports Fan Awards, Nigeria 2026.
The appointment followed Resolution 3 of the CASS meeting held in Casablanca on Jan. 8, 2026, according to a statement issued by CASS President, Stanislas Michel.

Delegates from over 36 countries attended the meeting in Casablanca as CASS reaffirmed its status as CAF’s recognised supporters’ body.
Michel said the decision reflected Rev. Ikpea’s long-standing commitment to fan organisation, sports unity, and the promotion of positive supporter culture across Africa.

The Sports Fan Awards is designed to recognise outstanding supporters, fan groups, and stakeholders who contribute to the growth of sports through passion, discipline, and unity.
Reacting to his appointment, Rev. Ikpea described the role as a call to service and an opportunity to project Nigeria’s fan culture globally.

“I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by CASS,” Ikpea said.
“This platform will celebrate fans as vital partners in sports development.”
He said the Nigeria 2026 edition would emphasise unity, fair play, and the positive influence of fans on and off the field.
