Akure, Jan. 30, 2026 – The Ondo State Government has raised concerns over rising complaints involving disputes on outdoor advertising spaces across the state, affecting individuals, political actors, and business organizations.
This is contained in a statement signed by Yòmí Oyékàn, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor (Signage & Advertisement)
Ondo State Government on Friday.
The government noted that increased political activities have triggered high demand for billboards, LED screens, lamp post adverts, and similar structures, resulting in scarcity and reported cases of double allocation.
Authorities lamented that some advertising agents and companies allegedly misrepresent availability of advertising spaces, causing financial losses and avoidable conflicts among clients.
The government advised all intending advertisers to properly verify the status and availability of any outdoor advertising space before and after making payments.
Advertisers are urged to confirm that advertising structures are available, not previously allocated, and managed by agents with legitimate authority to lease or deploy them.
The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) remains the statutory regulator of outdoor advertising activities across the state.
The agency, however, stressed that it can only act within its legal mandate, despite receiving multiple petitions from affected advertisers and organizations.
The advisory aims to protect advertisers, prevent losses, and promote orderliness within Ondo State’s outdoor advertising sector.
Stakeholders were urged to act responsibly and exercise due diligence in all outdoor advertising transactions.
