Asaba, May 12, 2026 (NAN) The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, has pledged support for Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Emu gave the assurance while receiving the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) delegation led by its President, Dr Lami Ahmed, in Asaba.
“I am delighted to receive the LGAN delegation and commend the association for securing hosting rights,” Emu said.
He described LGAN’s achievement as credible and laudable, assuring the association of the Delta Government’s support for a successful championship.
Emu said sports development remained a collective responsibility, adding that golf promoted discipline, opportunities, and healthy recreation for youths.
“Golf builds character, focus, and social interaction, making it one of the best sports for young people,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori would continue supporting initiatives promoting sports, women empowerment, and national development.
Earlier, Ahmed announced that Nigeria would host the championship from Nov. 1 to Nov. 7, 2026.She said the tournament, themed “Uniting Africa Through the Greens,” would attract participants from more than 30 African countries.
Ahmed said the championship would project Nigeria’s hospitality, sporting excellence, and leadership role across the continent.
“With your support, we will showcase Nigeria’s strength, hospitality, and leadership to the global community,” she said.
She commended the Delta Government for supporting sports development and promoting women participation in sporting activities.
