
Ndudi Edede, Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ), says the next edition of the National Teqball League will feature international participation, rather than remain a solely domestic competition.
Edede gave the assurance at the closing of the maiden National Teqball League, hosted by the Abia State Government and organised by NIGTEQ in conjunction with the Abia State Teqball Association.
The four-day event, held at the Aba Sports Club, attracted teams from states across the six geo-political zones of the country.
Edede expressed satisfaction with the turnout of participating states and athletes, highlighting the inclusion of a Ghanaian player, Sylvester Nortey, who represented Delta State.
NAN reports that Funsho Saliu of Abia won gold in the men’s singles, while Gladys Abasi of Rivers clinched gold in the women’s singles.
In the men’s doubles, Saliu and Khalid Yahaya secured gold for Abia, while Musa Joshua and Abasi won gold for Rivers in the mixed doubles.
Miracle Edafe and Efemena Ekeke claimed gold for Delta.
In the overall standings, Abia finished first with two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Rivers placed second with two gold and one bronze, while Delta came third with one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Edo finished fourth with one silver and one bronze medal, Imo placed fifth with one silver, while Enugu came sixth with one bronze.
