Mr Chimezu Obi, President General of the Obosi Community, in Anambra State has applauded the Police Command in the state for efforts to rid the state of any criminal activities.
Obi made the commendation in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, while addressing Journalists on sundry issues in the area and the state at large.
He described the quick responses to security challenges by the state police command as a welcome development.
He said that the community had witnessed the Police bursting crimes across the community and its environment..
According to him, the police was on top of their duties across communities in the state and described the act as a big plus to the command.
“The police quick response to calls over insecurity challenges in the communities of Anambra State has positive effects on control of crimes in the state, ” he said.
Obi said that the recent quick intervention action by the police instill fears in criminal camps and translate to relative peace in the state.
” Obosi has become an urban settlement for people from different parts of the South East with its attendant security challenges.
” Most of the crimes committed by people in Obosi, including kidnapping and robberies, are perpetrated by non-Obosi indigenes, but Obosi as a community bears the bad name,.
“Obosi community had resolved to partner the police in useful and timely information sharing, ” he said..
Obi added that the community had agreed to take over from crime operator’s through the principle of “if you see something, say something .
” Healthy and rewarding neighbourhood watch and reporting is our key to locking agents of crimes in our community,” he said.
The president general said that the new administration of Obosi Development Union is packaging some security measures to checkmate crimes and criminality in the community.
He said: “In the coming months, people will see a different Obosi and negative attitude attributed to our community will be curtailed to its barest minimum if not totally eradicated.”
Obi said that on September 9 the Police Command raided the community where they gunned down a suspected kidnapper, and rescued their victim.
He said that the Police Operatives while on Anti-Crime Patrol in Obosi at about 7.30p.m were stopped by residents and informed about a kidnap incident.
“The public spirited citizens pointed to the Police in the direction the kidnappers went after seizing their victim.
“This is our encouragement and partnership to the police that every needed information avaliable to the people will be given for effective policing in the community,” he said.
The PG assured the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, and his team of improved partnership
