The recent gale of sacking of elected members of the labour Party (LP) in Enugu State by the Election Petition Tribunals sitting in Enugu has irked a Labour Party Chieftain in Enugu State, Hon Uche Onah (URCHMAN) Who has vowed that the National Judicial Commission (NJC) will be petitioned by members of the party in the state.
Hon. Uche, who doubles as the Coordinator labour party youth for good governance noted that the manner the Enugu Election Tribunal has been handling issues bothering on lp Candidates looks suspicious as the rulings have not been consistent.
“Look at the judgement in the case of Hon Oguerinwa versus Hon Osita Ngwu where the Panel of Judges ruled that the Issue of nomination of any Candidate of a Political Party is a no go area but entirely a party affair and later the same day the same panel of Judges ruled that, Hon. Cyriacus Sunday Umeha a member of labour Party Representing Udi Ezeagu Federal Constituency did not properly resign from the PDP and therefore invalidly nominated, ” he said.
Onah said that the report of INEC monitoring of primaries of labour Party appears shady from every indication, adding that the activities of election tribunal was one that should be investigated as all the rulings had had nothing to do with the PDP Candidates winning with higher Votes but using technical issues to upturn the results won by the labour Party Candidates especially from Enugu West Senatorial Zone.
In his reaction after receiving the news Hon Barrister Cyriacus Sunday Umeha, who spoke by telephone to labour Party faithful who thronged his office in New haven area Enugu, told the members in his office that they should not lose hope as he had instructed his Lawyers to take the matter to Appeal Court immediately.
Umeha said that the Mandate freely given to him by his Constituency would not be snatched with Such issues bothering on nomination which is entirely a party affair.
