A frontline diaspora support group based in the United States has pledged massive support for the governorship aspiration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, promising him huge votes at the polls, even as they donated campaign materials to the party’s campaign council.
They revealed that their choice of who to support was informed by the leadership qualities and exceptional exploits that Dr. Mbah had made in the private sector.

The influential Enugu US support group operating under the auspices of Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Diaspora Campaign Committee USA Region disclosed that Dr. Mbah was unanimously endorsed and adopted as its preferred gubernatorial flagbearer because of his laudable background in both the public and private sectors, including the contents of his topnotch manifesto.
The group, made up of professionals commended the governorship hopeful for accepting to serve the state, promising to give him maximum support and ensure he emerges victorious on March 11 governorship election.

Speaking on behalf of the body, Chief Dr. Mrs Sinachi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu registered their delight over Dr. Mbah’s courage and acceptance of the challenge to steer the state to enviable heights, fight poverty, create massive jobs for the teeming youths and attract investments.
“We’ve heard you speak and we are impressed with the programmes you’ve unveiled for the people. This is the first time that a group from Enugu USA is doing everything possible to see that a candidate wins. We don’t support anyhow candidate. So, you are exceptional and this is why we chose you. We will give you maximum support, and we will make this work by supporting you with every strength we have,” she added.

Assuring that they were ready for the election and to convince the electorate to come out in large numbers and vote for the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer, the secretary of the group, Dr. Amaka Ngene, maintained that those in the state were already engaging in grassroots mobilisation.
She said: “Your brothers and sisters in all the senatorial zones there have grassroots mobilizers. They are sponsoring them and doing all they need to do in order to create awareness for people to come out and vote for you.

“If you see us here and some of us that maybe coming before the election, we already have our PVCs.
“So they are telling you, as Americans would say, “We got your back”.
Reacting to the support endorsement, Dr. Mbah extended his appreciation to the group, saying the value of what happened had already shown the people had taken ownership of the project.

“The value and significance of this visit and support can never be lost on us. I do not take them for granted. So I’d like to thank you immensely for all the support you’ve continued to give to this project.
“I recall how you treated us when we visited the United States and since then you’ve continued to engage our people and also spread the word about our candidacies,” he said.
He further stated that he would partner with the group in order to develop and grow the state’s economy, empower the youths, accelerate development and make the state a home of peace and Industrialisation.
Mbah, while reiterating his commitment to give the youths platforms, said the technology and facilities to create the enabling environment were only possible when his administration collaborate with those at the diaspora.
