•Commends Gov Ugwuanyi’s leadership, development, peace initiatives
•Says 1 billion naira already committed to Ihuokpara’s road
The Member representing Nkanu West/East Federal Constituency at the Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, has assured members of his constituency of more capital projects, jobs creation and human capital development in the upcoming years.
Acknowledging cheers from mammoth crowd at an event organised on Wednesday by the state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, through one of his aides and Senior Special Assistant, Hon. Chidiebere Okoh, popularly called “2 Cigar” in Amodu Awkunanaw, Nnolim stressed that his mission and mandate at the House of Representatives have yielded positive impacts for his people.
While appreciating the people of Amodu Awkunanaw for the support and commitment they’ve shown to his representation, the lawmaker underscored that he had performed far beyond expectations in his first tenure. According to him, the jinx of leadership failure has been broken in Nkanuland as projects worth billions of naira have been attracted by him to the various towns and communities in his constituency, promising that “more of the projects are coming in a massive way.”
Nnolim who took his time to reel out the plethora of projects credited to him stated that every political ward in the two local government areas of Nkanu West and East were now enjoying interrupted power supply in their streets enabled by the solar energy procured by him. According to him, more people had benefited from his empowerment programme, targeted at lifting indigent constituents out of poverty, encouraging agri-prenuership and getting the youths back to work.
Similarly, commending the deliberate programme weaved around the people, Nnolim lauded the administration of Governor Ugwuanyi for his unquantifiable leadership qualities, optimum business-friendly environment, positive rural-urban development and peace initiatives in the state. The first time lawmaker further pointed out that Enugu state was setting the template for other states in peace and security under the leadership of the governor, adding that Enugu state was the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
He commended the governor and the people for the confidence they had reposed on him, saying he would keep up with the leadership pace. Nnolim who vowed never to rest until his constituency is considered one of the most developed constituencies in the country challenged the electorate to always ask questions from office seekers as to what they had done for the people.
In addition, the lawmaker has declared that Ihuokpara’s road in Nkanu East local government area has got one billion naira for its construction through his strenuous effort. Nnolim further reiterated his resolve to complement the effort of the state government in its determination to ensure the presence of massive infrastructure in the nook and cranny of the state.
“2 Cigar, we are very much impressed with you because you have been consistent with this good gesture and uncommon act of philanthropy. You told us that it was our Governor that is driving your mission, and here we are sending our appreciation to the performing Governor for the resolve to continue to give the people a new lease of life.
“We are also appreciating Governor Ugwuanyi for the peace and security the people of the state are enjoying. It my interest us to know that it’s in a state like Enugu that you can see people gathering and celebrating this way. I don’t think other states are enjoying like our state is doing. The entrenched peace is as a result of the uncommon effort of the Governor, and he has provided security to the people’s satisfaction.
“In fact, we are also trying our best in Amodu. We have not abused the mandate you gave to us to represent you in Abuja and we also appreciate your support for that. As you can see our good works in Amodu; the building, the 24-hour powered solar light, the transformer, the empowerment programme so far in Amodu. We promise to do more, and we will support and partner with 2 Cigar in his effort to eradicate poverty in the land.
“You see, in politics, when you are representing your people, you should be able to tell them what you have done for them, and the facts of those projects should be able to speak for you too. We don’t believe in noise-making. We believe in fact. Anyone coming to seek your votes should be able to convince you of what he has done for the people and not what he or she will do. We have been sweating to see that our constituency benefits immensely from Abuja, and you can see the results. If anyone is coming to seek your votes, please, ask him whether he has done the good things that Nnolim is doing. I’m trying my best and I will not let you down just like 2 Cigar and our performing Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi are doing myriad jobs in the state. Governor Ugwuanyi and our people that sent me to Abuja knew that I would do well, and I’m happy they are not disappointed.
“Let me assure you of this; more things are coming. I spent one billion naira on Ihuokpara road. More things are coming. If anyone thinks it’s easy, let the person go and try it. We are all in the system and I’m happy about our progress so far. Thank you so much and happy new year,” the lawmaker added.
Meanwhile, the news of the announcement of the development has attracted different reactions from rights activists and stakeholders from the area. Writing on the twitter handles, WhatsApp groups and Facebook pages, the activists noted that Nkanu West/East Federal Constituency was, for the first time in decades, feeling the positive impact of federal government through Nnolim’s progressive struggle in the federal parliament. One Chukwu Ani who had his profile as living in Nara Unateze verified the claim made by the lawmaker as some pages of the appropriation bill bearing the projects attracted by Nnolim could be seen. It was also visible from the extract that the Ovu bridge which is between Nara and Nkerefi was captured by the budget.
Another activist who identified himself as Chiemerie Nnamani pledged his continuous support for the two lawmakers at the National Assembly and promised to mobilize support for them in 2023. According to him: “His Excellency, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, the Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial Zone at the Red Chambers, and Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, lawmaker representing Nkanu West/East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives are the people we know for now. Their signature projects have been proudly identified as topnotch, and I want to say there’s no vacancy in the House of Representatives. Chimaroke and Nnolim should forge ahead as the people are queuing behind them.”
Recall that last year, Nnolim had attracted a few kilometers road along Agbani-Ugbakwa-Nara-Nkerefi federal road which had since been completed. He has also empowered hundreds of his constituents with capital for business start up.
