The member representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chidi Obetta, has raised hope for the provision of a quality and people oriented based representation of his constituency at the 10th national assembly which was inaugurated on 13th of June, 2023.
Obetta made the promise and assurance at Holy Trinity Catholic Event Center, Maitama, Abuja, venue of a joint reception held by himself and his colleagues representing Enugu North Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly, after their inauguration.
The new national lawmaker said that he would do everything possible to bridge the gap of quality representation that was experienced in the time past by his constituents in the area of Education support programmes, Infrastructure and Empowerment programmes, but noted that, he needs quality contributions from all and sundry to make the legislative Bill and Motions he will sponsor at the floor of the House to be very rich in content and people oriented.
He further maintained that his victorious emergence at the election was a reflection of the amount of love the people of his constituency have for him adding that he defeated his closest rival with well over 50, 000 votes.
Obetta said that the number of votes he garnered after the election was a fulfilment of the prophecy his wife had over a year ago that he will be elected as a member of the National House of Representatives but certainly not on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, “the prophecy came in February last year precisely and by that time there was nothing like Labour Party which is the platform I later emereged from. So I began to ask myself what type of prophecy is this? Which party will ever defeat PDP in Enugu State?”
Obetta who said that though the prophecy of his wife seemed unrealistic in the eyes of men, the number of votes he later garnered after the election showed that God’s ways is different from that of men.
For this reason of massive love freely shown to me, “I will give my best to represent our people very well. My office will be open 24 hours for ideas and contributions from our constituents and well wishers. The voice and problems of our people will be effectively heard through me and with God on our side, we will succeed.”
He commended the good people of his constituency who were able to make it to Abuja for the inauguration ceremony adding that he would organize a Thanksgiving Party in his Ibagwa Ani country home on the 25th of June, 2023.
Obetta who used the opportunity to invite all his constituents to the Thanksgiving Party in his Ibagwa Ani country home, said that the event was to further appreciate them for their unwavering supports during and after the election.
