…as Young Lawyers Association, Junior Chambers International, seek cooperation

The Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu state, Nigeria, UgoFerdinand Ukwueze, has assured members of the Bar that he will protect and project the integrity of the law profession, in all his operations while leading his council area.
Ukwueze who is a trained and practicing lawyer before his election, gave the assurances when the association of ‘Young Lawyers’ in Nigeria and Junior Chambers International(JCI), paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the council headquarters in Ibagwa.
He assured them that his administration will be productive all through his tenure and he will strive to make the Bar proud.
He said, “We have about four Lawyers who emerged Chairmen of different local government areas in Enugu state and we are all out to support our Governor, His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, realize his Tomorrow is Here mantra to the fullest.
“In the Nigerian Bar Association perspective of Court room activities, I might without undermining anybody, say that I am a product of the NBA and that’s why I owe it as a duty that while working in this office, I will reflect the attributes and character that will not be an embarrassment to the NBA. It is a burden that I will carry consciously as I discharge my duties as the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South,”.
Ukwueze further said that he was proud of being part of the legal profession adding, “I am part of you, and will always render my support and assistance when needed. I may not be able to attend our monthly meetings due to the responsibilities placed on me not just as the Chairman of my local government but also as the Vice Chairman of ALGON in the state. I urge each and every one of you to be outstanding and represent the the bar proudly too,” He added.
He promised to maintain an intimate and personal relationship with each and every one of them as professional colleagues.
Speaking earlier, the President of the Young Lawyers Association, Barr Gabriel Ikeogu, said the courtesy visit was to congratulate Hon. UgoFerdinand Ukwueze, on his election as the Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze South Local government area.
His words, “We the Young Lawyers Association are very pleased to welcome your administration.
“We are happy to see one of us emerging as Chairman of a council area and we are rest assured that your administration will bring in good development to Igbo-Eze South Local Government and Enugu state at large.
Also speaking, one of the members of the Young Lawyers Association, Barr. Ugwuiyi Ikemefuna, made a plea for appointment of members of Young Lawyers Association in Igbo Eze South council area under Hon. Ukwueze’s administration.
He said, “We thank God for your emergence as the local government Chairman of Igbo Eze South and thank you for all the efforts you put in towards the development and progress of young lawyers even before becoming the local government Chairman and ALGON Vice Chairman. Your support to Young Lawyers growth will never go unrecognized.
“We are hear to also seek your help and plead that you remember Young Lawyers when carrying out your political appointments and other programmes. We assure you of our support in your administration.
In a related development, the Igbo Eze South Local Government Chairman, Hon. UgoFerdinand Ukwueze, commended ‘Junior Chambers International’ for their initiatives in developing the youths, and promised to honour their invitation as one of their guest speakers at their event scheduled to hold on December 19.
Ukwueze made the remarks when he received the association (JCI) on a courtesy visit to his office.
Hon. Ukwueze said, “I love the initiative of the JCI and I willingly accept your invitation. I’m not just accepting it to fulfill all righteousness but I want to use this opportunity to make a difference in the life of the youths through my presence and the speech I will present on that day.
“I am happy that you have started building a good part for yourself from your academic days and I hope you continue to do so. On this note I humbly accept the award your association has deemed me fit to receive at your event,” the chairman added
Earlier in her speech. The President of the Junior Chambers International, Miss Ifeoma Akubue commended Hon. Ukwueze for all his lofty programmes geared towards the development of Igbo-Eze South.
She said, “I got to know about you from the news on your prompt intervention in the case of the masquerades that assaulted a pregnant woman and I was amazed by how you handled the case.
“This singular act is one of the reasons that reinforced my zeal to research more about you and I am amazed with the great works you have done within the short period you took over the mantle of leadership in the council,”.
She explained that JCI is a non profit international non-governmental organization (NGO) of young people between 18 and 40 years old and has members in about 124 countries, including Nigeria. She said she is the JCI President of the University of Nigeria Nsukka Branch.
Akubue said, “JCI encourages young people to become active citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development, international cooperation, goodwill, and understanding.
“We are here not just to introduce ourselves or for pleasantries but to invite you to our General Assembly coming up on the 19th of December 2024. We request your presence not just as a guest but also to be one of our guest speakers in the event.
“We strongly believe that a speech by you will be of good influence to our youths. We also wish to present an award of excellence to you on that day for your life touching works and good services to humanity.
