…as Mrs. Nnadozie urges nursing mothers to properly breastfeed their babies

A mother of newborn triplets, Mrs. Cordelia Nwankwo, was all smile as the Chairman of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, visited her at Uvuru hospital, hours after delivery and donated baby items, food stuffs and a cash gift of one hundred thousand naira only for the upkeep of the children.
Nnadozie who congratulated Mrs. Nwankwo and her husband, Mr. Elias Nwankwo, for the gift of the children, urged the medical staff of Uvuru hospital to be committed to their job.

FirstNews reports that the parents of the triplets who are indigenes and residents of Uvuru community outside the cash gift by the Council Chairman, received babe items such as a Walker, packs of Pampers and babe hanger for the triplet from the Chairman.
Other items given to the triplet by the Council Chairman includes food stuffs such as rice, beans, milk etc.
In company of the council boss were the Secretary of the LGA, Prince Emeka Oroko; Supervisor for Health, Dr Collins Okafor; Hon. Princess Eziamaka, Councilor Nkpologu Ward and Chairman of PDP in Uvuru Ward, Hon. Eliagba Christian.
In a related development, the wife of the council Chairman, Mrs. Ebelle Nnadozie shared also babe items to nursing mothers at Ukpabi community to mark World Breastfeeding week.
Speaking during the event, Mrs. Nnadozie urged the nursing mothers who thronged the venue of the program with their babies, aged between 0 to two years to ensure that they properly breastfeed their babies in line with the standard set globally, starting from the hour after delivery to two years of age.

“Proper breastfeeding has numerous health benefits which includes proper development of the child, fighting unwanted illnesses, among others.” She explained.
Other speakers at the event includes Mrs. Loveth Onwuzurike, Assistant Nutrition officer, Enugu State Primary Health Agency; State Coordinator, babe friendly initiative, Enugu State Primary Health Agency, Mrs. Pauline Eneh Nwali; H.O.D of Health Unit, Uzo Uwani LGA among others.
FirstNews reports that other Highlights of the event includes weighing of babies’ weight as well as distribution of items such as Walker, Pampers, baby hanger, baby clothes, stockings, etc to the children according to the results of their weight.
