A Labour Party Enugu State leader, who doubles as the Coordinator of the labour Party faithful stakeholders in Oji River local government area of Enugu State, Chief Arnold Abba has called on the Enugu State labour Party faithful to remain calm in the face of the miscarriage of Justice in dismissing the Petition of the Labour Party Enugu State Governorship Candidate, Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga by the Election Tribunal sitting in Enugu.
Chief Abba made the appeal in a press briefing at the premises of the Court noting that the judgement was absurd and in all honesty worrisome as the judgement did not take notice of the Constitutional provisions against the Petitioners major complaints that the respondent, Barrister Peter Mbah submitted a forged NYSC certificate to the INEC during the last governorshp election.
Arnold noted that in the same court the Judge in dismissing the Petition of the PRP Governorship Candidate said he did not provide enough evidence that Mbahs NYSC certificate was forged.
“But in the case of the labour Party candidate the judge shifted the goal post and ruled that Mbahs NYSC certificate was not a requirement for him to Vie for the office of the governor.
“What this entails was that the labour party candidate Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga provided enough evidence that the respondent’s NYSC was forged hence the turn around by the Judge to shift the goal post in taking a stand in the matter, ” he said.
Arnold further urged the labour Party faithful in Enugu State to continue in prayers as the judgement was in every way not in conformity with the constitutional provisions concerning such matter.
“But the good thing is that the labour Party has indicated that their lawyers have been briefed to Appeal the judgement immediately, ” he said.
The LP leader said he was convinced that the Appeal Court would look into the judgement with the view of giving a more detailed review of the Constitutions provisions in such a matter.
Abba thanked the labour Party faithful in the state for their massive support to the labour Party since the election held in March till this present time.
