
Former member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji River Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Comrade Uchenna Ekwe, has called on Nigerians to disregard the economic hardship in the country and focus their attention on God in order to prevail.
Ekwe made made call in his country home, Enugu, Mmaku, Awgu local government area of Enugu State on Monday where he was commemorating his 25 years of marriage.
Speaking to the media after a church service to mark the marriage anniversary, the former house member who was in the House of Reps from 1999 to 2003, said that people should always look on to God for their provision and sustenance instead of focusing on the parlous economy.
He said that thus, people would avoid stress and wait on God who does all things and in His own time.
He pointed out that any marriage that is not built on Christ might end in crisis, hence the admonition to look on to God in everything.
Ekwe declined to comment on politics and the economy, saying that the occasion called for praise worship to God for him and his family in the past twenty-five years of marriage.
“Today is a day of celebration. I’ll not speak on the economy of the country, I’ll not speak on politics. I’ll only on speak on praising God and the blessings of God upon my family.
“I may touch on the economy in passing, though the economy of the country, not just the country, the economy of the world is under stress but for us who know the Lord we serve, we do not rely on the economy of this world for the earth and the fullness therein is of the Lord. He does all things and in his own time,” he admonished.
He said that though their marriage is not full of roses because they had occasion to misunderstand one another but he said they never disagreed on money and material things.
“Within 25 years, we have had cause to misunderstand one another but I have to make it clear that for 25 years, we have never had misunderstanding based on money or material things,” he said and urged the youth aspiring to go into marriage to rely on God.
The anniversary was attended by notable Nigerians including the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone, Hon. Osita Ngwu, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Toby Okechukwu among other dignitaries.
