The Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Revd Alexander Ibezim has tasked over 1500 Anglican Communion mothers not to dwell in their past negative lives.
Ibezim encouraged the mothers to be diligent in carrying out their responsibilities in their families and the society as agent of development and society builder.
He said in a sermon on Sunday at the Chapel of Redemption Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, during the induction, rededication and thanksgiving of the Diocesan Mothers Union.
Ibezim in a sermon theme ” The Year of His Glory”drawn from Holy Bible, Isaiah 6verse 1- 8,advised the mothers to forget their past to cash in a brighter future.
He said that most mothers are stagnated because they still cling on their past mistakes in life and the guilt has overshadow their creative mind
” Forget the past, is gone,be it mistakes or deliberate sins, God has forgiven you and you are anew creation.
” Do not allow the old negative thoughts to keep you bound,this year 2024 push forward, be articulate and creative,go for new horizon,” he said
Addressing the Diocesan Women, the President, Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild, Province of the Niger and Awka Diocese, Dr Martha Ibezim said that divine blessings follows the women as they annually rededicates themselves.
” Each year we are enriched with blessings from God during the rededication service and we are strengthened to do exploits in God’s vineyard and our homes,”she said.
Ibezim reteriated that with the rededication service for year 2024 is held that Women Ministry are poised to embark on activities slated for the year unhindered.
She urged the women to abide by the theme of the year as God will reveal Himself more to them this year to prove himself.
“The Year Of His Glory was carefully chosen and as recorded in Book of Isaiah 6 verses 1 to 8, God has forgiven us all our past negative dealings.
“Nothing is standing on our success story as God has taken care of any hindrance, no matter the economic- social challenges of our time ,we are victorious and not victims,” she said.
The president mothers union presented some mothers for induction for year 2024 before the Archbishop who inducted the women after reciting of the mothers rules and prayers.
Mrs Obiamaka Okonkwo one of the newly inducted member of mothers union said she has longed for the induction and was happy to achieve her dream.
Okonkwo said that the teachings dhe received during their training has exposed her more to values of the women ministry.
” I am more inspired in things of God and charged to live as a Christian Mother and convinced on need to raise a godly home,”Okonkwo said.
Mrs Uche Ndianefo,newly inducted Mother union member said that her journey as a Christian mother was practically exposed to her during their teaching before induction.
Ndianefo assured that certainly she yielded to the principles of the union as there are more gains in living a Christian Mother life style than be worldly.
Revd Canon David Ohamara, Chaplain of Awka Diocesan Women Ministry, advised the mothers never to stray out of the leadership style of their president.
He said that since the emergence of the present leadership in the diocese that the leadership has continually used their wealth of knowledge to transform and brought innovations and development to Women Ministry.
” My prayer remains that God will continue to bless team accordingly and grant the mothers the ability and ingenuity to make the ministry gainful to all,” he prayed.
Mrs Ada Ugoagu, Vice president, Mbaukwu Archdeaconry and wife of the Vicar, St Lawrence Parish Mbaukw,Venerable Ik Ugoagu.said that the annual rededication service is key to moulding mothers spiritual lives.
Newsmen reports that rededication service was climaxed with thanksgiving from 22 participating Archdeaconry of Awka Doicese.
The Vice Presidents of Archdeaconry leades the Archdeaconry namely Deanry,Agulu,Enugwu-Ukwu, Ukpo,Ugwuoba, Ebenebe, Urum,Awka Central amongst others with their members to the altar for thanksgiving.
The Archdeaconry members presented bags of rice,garri,tubers of yam, red oil, biscuits amongst other foods items as thank offering to God.
