The Director-General of the Project Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu, Dr (Engr) Peter Ogbobe, has urged members of staff of the institute to always pursue peace and unity in the work place to guarantee progress.
Ogbobe said this in his remark during the opening of the 2025 PRODA Games Festival held at the PRODA sports arena.
He described the games festival and sports in general, as a unifying factor, especially in the work environment.
According to him, the festival, which is in it’s third edition under Ogbobe’s administration, has achieved it’s objective by unifying members of staff and creating atmosphere of conviviality.
“It has achieved it’s objective by bringing conviviality among the workers.
“It has brought us together; we eat together; play together and improve the work environment to stay as one family, ” he said.
The D-G said that this year’s games was an improved version due to the introduction of new sports including Indoor Games, Draft, and Chess.
Ogbobe praised the athletes for coming out to compete among themselves, saying that, apart from unity, it was worthwhile for staff to be fit at all times.
He said that the football team came out third in the 2024 Inter Agency Games Competitions held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“PRODA took third position in football among the other science and technology related agencies in Nigeria, which is part of the reason for this PRODA annual games festival, ” he said.
He urged the athletes to imbibe the spirit of fair play, saying that the games festival was for friendship and love.
“Please don’t break anybody’s leg, take it easy and try to play safe, ” he said.
