Dr Eric Ogo, the chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, has signed the 2025 budget of ₦5.4 billion of the council into law following the passage of the budget by the legislature..
Speaking during the signing ceremony, at Ogbede, Headquarters of the council, Odo said that the budget tagged, “Budget of Aggressive Economic Recovery and Good Governance” would be implemented judiciously.
He said that his administration had put mechanism in place to ensure smooth and seamless implementation of the budget.
He said that the primary goal of the council was to ensure that people enjoy the dividends of democracy, which his administration would pursue vigorously through infrastructural development and improved people’s welfare.
Odo pledged to utilise the available resources of the council effectively, maintaining that he would continue to building on the progress his administration had recorded in the last two months.
He said: “₦2.71 billion of the total budget would go into recurrent expenditures while the remaining ₦2.76 billion would be used to finance capital expenditures.
“The strategies for successful implementation of the 2025 budget include ensuring adequate resource allocations for the completion of ongoing projects.
“The 2025 budget will ensure prudence, transparency, accountability, and traceability in all local government businesses and zero tolerance to corruption.”
The chairman appreciated the councillors’ thorough work in passing the budget in record time.
In his remarks, the leader of Igbo-Etiti legislative council, Hon. Stephen Okwu, commended his colleagues for the speedy attention given to the budget.
Okwu urged the council chairman not to relent in discharging his responsibilities, stressing that the councillors remain solidly behind him.
