HON DUMNAMENE DEKOR CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY IN STYLE, EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO THE HON SPEAKER AND FCT MINISTER By Christian Jonathan Nass On the 27th of February 2024, Hon Dumnamene Dekor, Chairman House Commitee on Host Communities representing The good people of Gokana/Khana Federal Constituency of Rivers State celebrated his birthday with style, pomp and thanksgiving to the Almighty God for keeping him and his family in good health and well-being all this years. Hon Dekor also thanked the Hon Speaker Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, the House leadership, honourable colleagues and friends, family and well-wishers for making his birthday a memorable and befitting event. According to a visibly elated Hon Dekor: ‘Let me say that the 24th of February which was last Saturday was actually my birthday but l was in Lagos on national assignment when the Hon Speaker of this great 10th Assembly, His Excellency Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas got accross to me indicating that they were willing to come to celebrate my birthday in my house and l told him that l was on assignment in Lagos. And he graciously asked me for a date that will be convenient for me and l said today, the 27th, February and true to his word, Mr Speaker, the leadership of the House and all my honourable colleagues have provided the enablement for me to celebrate my birthday today and l must say l am very grateful, very glad and very happy for the very kind words and the very wonderful prayers offered to me by both Mr Speaker and other members of this august parliament. I give all the glory to the Almighty God and l commit to the fact that as a team player in this House, l will continue to serve my constituents and Nigerians to the best of my ability. And l beseech God to give me the strength to do the things l have been unable to do but wish to do. And l believe the good Lord will grant me the good health and all that is required of me to deliver. Hon Dekor also thanked his constituents and Rivers people for their loyalty and support while expressing gratitude to FCT Minister, Dr Nyesom Wike for giving him the opportunity to serve Rivers State and his people in various capacities: ‘To the good people of Gokana/Khana federal constituency and the good people of Rivers State, l wish to assure them that l am theirs and will always be there for them. In the course of my service over the years, l have served in the local government as a supervisor of works and a member of the caretaker commitee of the local government council. I have equally served as a Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and as a Commissioner of Works under the man who transformed the landscape of Rivers State and is presently transforming the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Dr Nyesom Wike, who has given me the opportunity to serve my people. I am also grateful to the people of Gokana/ Khana federal constituency for giving me the platform to serve and to Rivers people alike and l promise to continue to be humble, to be loyal, to be honest and dedicated and to be that different politician who believes that forgiveness is the hallmark, who understands that we live by the grace of God. For Nigerians, these are definitely hard times but they have found a voice in us, they have found a voice in the 10th Assembly and we will, working in collaboration with the Executive, provide succour to our people. For all of us struggling out there to eke a living, God will intervene and we should give the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu time to do the things they have planned to do and those are the things that will bring back dignity to our people and put food on our tables. And for the young people they have to be more patient as we strive to uplift our society. We don’t have any other country than Nigeria and we will collectively take Nigeria to the destination it wishes to be. Thank you – a visibly upbeat Hon Dumnamene Dekor concluded.
