
The Enugu State U-15 youth games kicked off on Thursday with one Football match concluded to mark the opening ceremony.
In the opening match of the day, Udenu Local Government U-15 football team came from behind to defeat Nkanu west LGA U-15 football team by 3-2.
Nkanu west opened scoring as early as two minutes of play through Chisom Mazelk and just minutes later, Uzochukwu Charles, equalised for Udenu.
Nkanu West doubled the lead on the 15th minutes through Ukwu Chiome while Ifeanyi Ezema equalised for Udenu.
Egbugo Victor, made it three for Udenu team to end the half 3-2.
On the resumption of second half, both teams tried to score more goals but it was not to be.
Speaking after the match and after the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremmadu, commended the two teams for their display.
“From what we have seen, we are hopeful of discovering talents.
“He said that the objective of the games was to discover talents at the grassroots, ” he said.
He thanked the China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) for sponsoring the games.
