The Enugu state governorship Candidate of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Peter Mbah,has filed a N1 billion lieble suit against that all progressive congress (APC) in the state, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah.
In the suit Makerd E/25/2023 and field at Enugu state, High Court, Dr Peter Mbah also joined the Independent Newspaper limited, and Daily Independent Newspaper, as 2nd deffendents.
The summons dated and field on Jan 18 by his lawyer Dr Onyechi Ikepeazu, SAN Dr Peter Mbah sought a Court declaration that by the publication of may 30, 2020. The deffendents has maliciously accused him of membership in a gang of criminal activities.
Dr peter Mbah therefore demanded the sum of N1 billion as a general damage for the alleged libelous publication against his person. And he also sought an order mandating the deffendents publish an apology and a retraction of the defamatory publication that was made against him in the last three national dailies.

In a statement of claim filled in the court Dr Peter Mbah alleged that Agballah accused him of joining the govonorship race in oder to use Enugu state funds to pay up an alleged N40 billion business debt
Mr Peter Mbah further stated that he was serverally embarrassed by countless calls, and massage from concerned family members, business and political associates, loved once friends and in-laws while serveral Nigeria who thought the claim was true condemned him in the media and social media platforms.
He also said though he has directed his solicitor to write the deffendent vida a correspondence dated 22nd July 2022 in which he damanded a retraction of the publication and apology as well as compensation for dameging his reputation.
