
The administration of Enugu North Local Government Council has completed a model office complex with over 26 offices.
The council made this known through the Secretary of Council, Hon. Solomon Ugwu when he received the Enugu Stare Good Governance Initiative (GGI) team at the council headquarter in Enugu.
Ugwu said that the model office complex was meant to accommodate more staff of the council.
“The office complex is over 90 per cent completion, with furnitures. and His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah is expected to commission it later this month, precisely in the December 13, ” he said.
The council secretary also took the team to the new Coal Camp motor parts market constructed by the council administration under the leadership of Hon. Emeka Odunze.
The motor parts shopping complex has 230 shops; 32 toilets; asphalted car park and other amenities.
“This place used to be a dumpsite by the traders but our chairman decided to convert it to a modern and multipurpose shopping mall, ” Ugwu said.
The administration also started and completed a 1.3 km asphalted road with drainages at Afia nine in Asata area of Enugu and rehabilitation of a .523km feeder road currently ongoing at Gulf estate amongst others.
According to the secretary, the council also built a health center in each of the 13 wards to cater for the health needs of the people.
“In the area of youth empowerment, the council has trained and empowered 50 persons under it’s training and empowerment program, ” Ugwu said.
The team comprised the Leadership of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council and a Coalition of Civil Society Organization in Enugu state.
The team expressed satisfaction with the council’s performance on infrastructural development and urged the administration to look into other areas.
