Hon. (Prif) Paul Nnamchi
Engr George Ugwu, Spokesperson for Chijioke Edeoga’ Governorshp Election Campaign Organization has described Friday nullification of Labour Party’s victory by the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Enugu as temporal setback for the party.
Reacting to the Tribunal Judgement in the Enugu East / Isi Uzo Federal Constituency election, which voided the victory of Prof. Paul Nnamchi, Ugwu said it was a travesty of justice which will not stand rigorous challenge at the appeal court.
According to him: “The judgment is temporal and reversible.”
While thanking Labor Party enthusiasts for their continued support, he urged them to remain focused and unrelenting in their solidarity and prayers for LP ultimate victory in their various cases.
He described Prof. Nnamuchi as an answered prayer to his constituents, who have begun to taste his effectiveness and impactful representation at the National Assembly.
Ugwu reassured LP’s teeming supporters that their votes would not be in vain.
He wondered how the PDP and their candidate, Hon Cornelius Nnaji who lost to the LP candidate, Prof Paul Nnamuchi with over thirteen thousand ( 13,000 ) votes, could unashamedly plot to steal and thwart the people’s mandate.
He urged LP faithful to remain calm as the party and the candidate were determined to exhaust all legal means possible to retrieve the people’s mandate.
Meanwhile, Prof. Nnamchi has rejected the judgment of the three-man panel of the National Assembly Election Tribunal which voided his Victory on February 25, Nationàl Assembly Election.
In a press statement issued by his Media Adviser, Mr Sam Nwanze, Nnamchi said that the “verdict does not conform to the provisions of the law and expectation of his teeming supporters”.
According to him: “I am not satisfied with the judgment of the tribunal which to me is not in accordance with the provisions of the law and expectation of my teeming supporters.
“Consequently, I have instructed my lawyers to proceed to appeal the matter at the Appeal Court which has the final say on the case and I am confident we will get justice at the Appeal Court.
“My confidence in the judiciary is not shaken by this judgment.
“I am hopeful justice will be served at the next level and the current verdict will be overturned at the appellate court.
“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to my teeming supporters to remain calm as we are hopeful to reclaim the mandate at the Appeal Court,” he said.
The Honorable member used the opportunity to appreciate all his supporters who had called to show solidarity and those who might not reach him.
“I can assure you all of my resolve to defend the mandate freely given to me through your votes by fighting to the end. It is not yet over. God bless you all,” he added.
