:

Recent events in the Labour Party family in Enugu State and in particular the fresh rumors concerning the planned defection of some House of Assembly members elected under the Labour Party platform has generated a lot of discourse with concerned Party men and women, and rightly so.
Across the breath of Enugu, voices has risen reproving, condemning, threatening, and calling for the sack or recall of our members who have engaged in one form of anti Party activities or another.
Politicians in Nigeria have a checkered history of switching from one political party to another.
It is true that in most cases, our politicians across the country have taken the electorate for granted by personalizing the mandate given to them under the umbrella of political parties in pursuit of selfish political ambitions.
Likewise, Labour Party House of Assembly members were just not elected to political office on account of their individual capability and personal recognition, but also on the strength and visibility of Labour Party as vehicle of political contest.
Trending in like manner within the Party hierarchy, are isolated cases of indiscipline, disloyalty and trust issues which unfortunately have been left unchecked for a while.
In my last correspondence to you my fellow comrades, I beseeched you to close ranks and bond as one family because the PDP we fight are more than flesh and blood. PDP is still licking their wounds on our emergence as a formidable political Party in Enugu that resonates with the masses. They will not sleep nor slumber until (in their imagination), they destroy Labour Party and their strategy usually is to introduce discord within the party which if not diligently handled could result in conflict.
Be that as it may and importantly too, I am not aware as of today that any of our House of Assembly members has officially tendered his resignation/defection letter to the Party. Consequently, unless and until that is done, we can only speculate as to their intentions.
Suffice it to say that in that event, the actions of the Party will be swift and decisive in tandem with the extant laws of the land.
In the interim, I once again plead with you to restrain your anger especially on social media and desist from all manners of name calling and personal jibes as that will only give fuel and impetus to the opposition to propagate their iniquitous agenda.
We need to unite the Party more than ever and this calls for calmness and maturity from all ranks and divide at a time like this.
Be rest assured that as a Party, we have an internal mechanism to deal with such issues and I can assure you that we will not relent on it.
At the appropriate time sooner than later, we will have the opportunity to interact and discuss pressing issues affecting our dear Party including WHY, HOW, and WHAT NEXT.
Lets keep our political fire burning, and be hopeful that the future is bright for Labour Party in Enugu State.
INDEED ENUGU STATE SHALL BE GREAT AGAIN!
