
Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, has commended Phantom Under 18 Football Club, of Enugu, for the glory the Club brought to Enugu State by Winning the 10 th Edition of South – East Under 18 Dreamland Grassroots Football Championship, held in March 2024, in Abia State.
Speaking while receiving the trophy , in his office, today, Commissioner Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, who praised the boys , for doing the State proud, pointed out that Enugu State government will continue to appreciate and receive athletes who win laurels for the state.
In his speech, the proprietor of Phantom Football Club, Mr Vitalis Agbo, thanked the Commissioner for receiving them, informed him , that the Football Club was formed only last year, as a Grassroots Football Club, designed to nurture football potentials of youths of Enugu State, with a view to exposing them to Football scouts in Nigeria and beyond.
He explained further that Phantom Football Club won 6 matches to emerge Champions in Abia State, venue of the scouting competition, adding that three of their players Kosisochukwu Achi, Paul Ede and DanZaria Mathias were selected for trials in Hungary, he noted that Enyimba U18 Football Club , Abia Warriors U 18 Football Club and 4 other youth Football Clubs participated in the Championship.
He appealed for training facilities and for other sundry help to enable them improve in nurturing young football talents in the State.
Members of the delegation include, the Proprietor of the Club , Mr Vitalis Agbo, Club Director Chidera Onovoh, Assistant Coach, Izuchukwu Ogbodo among others.
