
Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, has revealed that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s passion and commitment for sports development are the driving force in recent successes in sports in Enugu State.
Commissioner Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, who made the revealation, during a media chat in Prime Sports FM, Enugu , thanked the Governor for providing him the enabling tools to work.
He noted that one of the pillars of what he wishes to achieve is to partner the private sector who have antecedent for grassroots sports development. he expressed happiness that Boolu Ogbe and some other firms like David Hills Entertainment Centre, I Tour Africa ,World Sports Championship among other firms are engaging the Ministry in talent hunting in the State.
He noted that very soon De York Group, will soon build a Sports City, where facilities for sports will be established, adding that there will also be facilities for sports medicine sports management and other ancillary facilities.
He disclosed that his Ministry is engaging Enugu State athletes who had previously participated for other states in National Sports Festivals to come back home and represent the State, and that his Ministry is interested in medals winning events, noting that a good number of them have shown interest to participate for Enugu State.
He regretted that lack of adequate facilities is hindering sports development in the State.
He commended the General Manager of Rangers Management Corporation Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, for the successes he has brought to bear in Rangers, noting that he shares the same passion and commitment with the GM, in the quest for Rangers to win the league trophy for the State .
