Awka, Oct.14,2024; Anambra Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, is enhancing the creative economy by extensively developing captivating tourist sites such as the Solution Fun City, Agulu Lake Leisure Park, Solution Neighborhood Leisure Park, and others. This also includes the construction of quality road infrastructures, hospitals, and a magnificent government house and lodge, to promote tourism and attract investors to the state.
Governor Soludo, who was represented by the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji disclosed this information at the Anambra Picnic and Funfair 1.0, which was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism in partnership with the Tourism Volunteers Network, Anambra State.
The event took place at the Anambra Film Village located behind the Kenneth Dike Library.
He said, ” Tourism globally has become the oil and gas of Nations and by the massive development going on in the state, Anambra will be a spectacular tourist hub in Nigeria and the world. The transformation of the once Okpoko slum into a new heaven is an indication of the vision of Mr. Governor to beautify the state and promote tourism.”
The Head of the Tourism Department of the Ministry, Mrs Chioma Afuba alighted other notable tourist sites in the state such as the Ojukwu Bunker, Ogbunike cave, Owelle-Ezukala cave/waterfall, Golden Tulip Hotel and others, noting that Anambra is blessed with remarkable sites for relaxation and sightseeing.
She urged investors to take part in the state’s development and encouraged both local and international tourists to explore Anambra State’s magnificent attractions, highlighting the state’s exceptional hospitality.
In her part, the Honourable Minister for Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade-John stressed that Anambra is a hidden gem blessed with a diverse range of tourism attractions that can captivate visitors around the world to visit the historical land cultural heritage, natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes.
The Minister who was represented by the Executive Director of Tourism Volunteers Network, Ambassador Phil Robert, commended Governor Charles Soludo for the great strive in developing and repositioning tourism in Anambra State.
“Your efforts have been instrumental in showcasing the state’s breathtaking tourist attractions and vibrant landscapes. This programme reveals the state’s unique attractions and the hospitality of the people,” she added.
Present at the event were the Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), Mr Mike Ozoemena; Awka South Local Government Chairman, Prince Okafor, Hon. Chinedu Obiegwe; House of Representatives member Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, Directors and Staff of the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism.
The event featured lots of exciting activities such as games, cultural ballad dance, a variety of local cuisine, cultural musical entertainers and more.(end)
