The ongoing national processions across states and major cities through the federation, especially by the Youths demanding a paradigm shift in the style of political leadership in Nigeria, recorded a massive turnout in Enugu state.
The procession, which seemed like a political revolution tagged “Obedient Movement”, clearly signifies the preference of most Nigerian youths and electorates for Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, to emerge as the next President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election.
The clamour for Mr Peter Obi stems from the fact of his credible track record of good governance in Anambra state while he governed the state for eight years.
Most Nigerians, irrespective of party or affiliation, also see Peter Obi as the most energetic candidate with a blueprint to turn around the economy of the country.
The procession in Enugu, September 10, 2022, which was very peaceful and lasted up to 4 pm, witnessed a large turnout as youths from other towns in the state, namely, Nsukka, Oji River, Awgu, UDI, Agbani, etc., voluntarily stormed the city metropolis in their thousands to join in the procession.
The procession, which took off at Okpara square, went round major streets and busy areas of Ogui Road, Okpara Avenue, Ziks Avenue, Ogui New Layout, and the New Haven axis of the metropolis, among others.
The checks revealed that the Enugu March was extraordinary based on the sympathy for the Labour Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, by the citizens and most electorates in the state.
Political analysts in Enugu state describe Hon. Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party as the most credible alternative to end the PDP’s domination of the political leadership of Enugu state since 1999.
