Abuja, March 29, 2026 (NAN) Former Delta Speaker, Victor Ochei, has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for unity and democratic maturity at its 8th National Convention in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC held its 8th National Convention and associated congresses in early 2026, with the main National Convention taking place on March 27–28, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja.
While Ward congresses were held in February 2026, and Zonal congresses took place between March 12–17, 2026.
Ochei said, “The convention reflects renewed confidence in leadership and our shared resolve to strengthen progressive ideals.”
He praised the consensus process that returned Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman, noting broad delegate support.
“This overwhelming endorsement shows our party is united and forward-looking,” Ochei added.
Ochei, a member of the Convention Committee, described the event as a defining moment for APC’s institutional strength and democratic growth.
“The APC has demonstrated capacity to deepen democracy and good governance nationwide,” he said.
He also expressed confidence in Bola Ahmed Tinubu, affirming commitment to reforms for sustainable development.
“President Tinubu’s leadership remains focused on transformative policies that will reposition Nigeria’s economy,” Ochei stated.
He also commended the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori for hosting the South-South Congress and praised delegates’ discipline.
“Delta remains strategic to APC’s victory plans ahead of 2027,” Ochei said.
He recalled his role in the Delta Congress, where he moved the motion dissolving the State Executive Council for new leadership emergence.
“That process showed our commitment to consensus and party unity at all levels,” he noted.
Ochei who doubles as the President of Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots mobilisation, institution-building and inclusive leadership across Delta and beyond.
“My focus remains unity, discipline and delivering results that benefit the people,” he added.(NAN)
