2000 PDP members defect to Labour Party in Enugu State
The Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State has said that 2000 members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Eha-ulo Ward, in Nsukka Local Government Area have defected to the party.
Chairman of the ward, Mr Martins Odo made this known a rally staged by party in the ward to drum support for the party and her candidates in the state.
Odo said the emergence of labour party has provided great alternative for the people to make their preffered choices on where to belong.
He said that the ward executive of the party welcomed the boldness of the defectors and encouraged them to remain Obidient.
“As the executive of Eha-ulo ward, we appreciate your bold steps in joining the movement to build a new Enugu state and Nigeria.
“We equally urge you to be diligent and prayerful as you support labour and all our candidates in the 2023 general election, ” he said.
Speaking, one of the defectors, Mr Fidelis Eze, said they decided to team up with LP to rescue Enugu State and Nigeria in general.
“We are here to join the movement to rescue Enugu State and Nigeria from total collapse,” he said.
Eze, who was a former Councillor and critical stakeholder in PDP, Eha-ulo ward said over 2000 supporters and members of PDP would join them in the rescue mission in due course.
Engr Onyeka Ezugwu, contestant for Nsukka East Constituency of the State House of Assembly, commended the defectors, saying it was time to build a new Enugu State.
“It is time for all to join hands to build a new Nsukka East Constituency: new Enugu State; and a new Nigeria of the people’s dream where every citizen will receive equal treatment regardless of class, ” he said.
He advised other well meaning people of the area to join the party “let’s build together”.
