The Senator Representing Enugu North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Okey Ezea, has debunked the rumors making the rounds that he diverted truck loads of rice meant for his constituents, adding that instead it was he that shared bags of rice to his constituents from his personal purse.
Ezea in a press release made available to the press by his Media Office, said that the controversy over some false publications in the social media alleging that federal lawmakers including himself diverted truck loads of rice meant for their constituents to other destinations, were the handiwork of some political detractors who are still nursing the wounds of their party’s defeat in the 2023 general election.
According to the press release, “the position as it stands today is that Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, has not received any material palliative from the Federal Government of Nigeria, whether monetary or food item, for the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District.
He assured that if and when he receives such palliative for the Zone, he will, in line with his avowed principle of equity and fairness, which remains the motivation for which he aspired to represent the Zone at the floor of the Senate, share such palliative in a very transparent manner.”
Senator Okey Ezea, said that in recognizing the enormity of the current hardship confronting not only ‘our people’ but Nigerians at large, he from his personal purse, ensured the distribution of bags of rice ahead of the new year to all the 102 electoral wards that make up the Enugu North Senatorial District.
He maintained that though the distribution exercise has been concluded at the local governments level, the sharing of the same bags of rice were still being carried out at the electoral ward levels.
While urging the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District to remain vigilant against the evil machinations of the said political detractors in the zone, Ezea, urged his constituents to disregard the false narrative as it pertains to the non-exsitent rice palliatives.
“These false narratives are nothing but a figment of the imagination of the makers”. He said.
Senator Ezea, said that if not for the recent traction the false narrative is gaining in some quarters, he would have ordinarily ignored the purveyors of these false narrative in the Zone.
“I am aware that the National Assembly leadership has issued a statement in that regard refuting the false social media reports. Ordinarily, the clarifications offered by the National Assembly leadership should have sufficed, especially given that I am an integral part of the national parliament and as such could not have received any form of palliative to the exclusion of my colleagues.
“But this statement becomes necessary in order to ensure that the unsuspecting members of my Constituency do not fall for these cheap political antics.” Ezea explained.

Thanks for the clarification, our distinguished senator. You are blessed
