Interesting days are ahead in Enugu State as Labour Party fields the candidates with the Midas touch in forthcoming general election.
In Nigeria with Enugu State as the most talked about in South East States, the real reason for the excitement and apprehension is that, for the first time since the return of democratic process in the state and county in general, real election is about to take place.
This is as a result of many factors.
However, this write up will focus on one of the factors and that’s where Hon Chimaobi Sam Atu comes in focus.
The usual occupiers of the various Political Positions have suddenly discovered that the bubble has burst and it is no longer business as usual.
In the words of one PDP chieftain, the party has realised that the normal practice of celebrating victory once the ticket is approved by the king makers is now’ a thing of the past .
The Labour Party in its quest for a real change of narrative went a notch further to look out for candidates with good and verifiable track records, from the Governorship/Deputy Governorship Senatorial to Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates.
Hon Chimaobi Sam Atu is one of the LP candidates making waves before the voters today.
When asked about his reasons for entering into the race, the quiet and humble giant, noted that, he is in the race to give the people of his constituency the best form of representation based on his past antecedents and his desire to keep with the Labour Party mantra of not taking the people for granted as it has been since the return of democracy in Nigeria.
Hon Sam has ensured that the youths in his constituency of Enugu North / South Federal Constitueny are empowered in many skills acquisition, Scholarships have been given to indigent students just as he has set up a foundation to carter for the elderly people.
With all these as a private business man and you can now imagine what will be in stock for his constituency when he is given the mandate by February 2023.
He says that, the time has come for the real change his people have been waiting for without success and it can only come when they vote Labour Party candidates in the firthcoming election.
