The people of Alor-Agu community in Igbo-Eze South Local Government
Area have commended the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi, for constructing a befitting administrative block in the Community’s Secondary School, to ensure a conducive environment for learning.
The commendation was made by the community during the commissioning
ceremony of the said administrative block in Community Secondary
School Alor-Agu recently.
FirstNews reports that the said administrative block was built by
Enugu State Government in partnership with the World Bank through the
Community and Social Development Project, (CSDP) office.
In his welcome address, the President General of Alor-Agu Progressive
Union, Barr. Cosmas Ugwu commended the governor for the project in Alor-Agu community, promising that “the community will make good use of the building noting that the governor has left a legacy which would
remain indelible in the memories of the indigenes.
“We are highly overwhelmed by this unique gesture to our community by
the Governor of Enugu State and the good people of Alor-Agu will
reciprocate this love with an unquantifiable support to his
administration and massively vote for the governor’s re-election in
the forthcoming 2019 general election.”
Also speaking, the immediate past Supervisor for Education & Head Information Bureau in Igbo-Eze South LGC, Hon. Emmanuel Jonathan, JP
lauded the governor for his relentless effort in carrying out
community development projects across the state which his community
Alor-Agu is a beneficiary adding that the reward for the good works of
Gov. Ugwuanyi is second term reelection.
Jonathan urged the community to devote their time and get their
permanent voters card so as to vote massively for governor Ugwuanyi’s
reelection in the 2019 governorship election in the state.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local
Government, Hon. Dr. Fidelis Odo, lauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for paying the
state government’s counterpart fund to attract World Bank Assisted projects to the state.
Odo who said that his administration at the council area was
development oriented, promised to give 50 percent counterpart fund to any community within the council area that have been able to raise 50 percent of the basic 10 percent counterpart fund of CSDP that would
enable them attract projects from the agency.
Speaking also, the General Manager, Community and Social Development Projects, (CSDP) in the state, Dr Maximus Asogwa, commended Governor Ugwuanyi who according to him “made the project to become a reality
and ensuring that Alor-Agu community was one out of the over 500
communities benefiting from the CSDP projects”.
Asogwa also urged the teachers and the community to make use of the administrative block to bring a change in the school, pointing out
that with the new administrative building, students would have every opportunity to access their teachers for clarifications on academic affairs.
He urged them to make sure that they take proper care of the
administrative block, pointing out that the purpose of the complex was to create conducive environment for learning.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in his address, pointed out that the project worth over four million naira was part of his administration’s policy
of ensuring conducive environment for learning in all the schools
across the state adding that the school management, students and the host community should take appropriate care of the administrative
block to enable them get more attention from government.
The Governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Emeka Madu, commended the agency for initiating and
delivering the project, urged members of the community to “obtain
their permanent voters card to ensure that their votes counts in the
2019 general election,”.
He said that with the voter’s card they would be able to elect and reelect leaders who would continue to render dividends of democracy as was being experienced in the state under the current administration.
The high point of the event was the commissioning of the
administrative block by the governor represented Hon. Emeka Madu.
