Abuja, March 26, 2023 (NAN) One of the organizers of the FIFA women’s world cup trophy tour, Visa West Africa has revealed that the rationale behind sponsoring FIFA organized events is for them to take alot of young men and women away from poverty driven situations to a place where they could believe and begin to carve a niche for themselves.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday at Transcorp Abuja, where the FIFA women’s world cup trophy was paraded for fans of the round leather game to have a photo session with, Vice President of Visa West Africa, Mr Andrew Uaboi said they are seeing alot of adoption in women’s football globally, and that the activation of women’s sports is a proper ground for inclusivity and equity particularly with regards to the female gender.
Uaboi further stressed that what Visa sets out to achieve is beyond football in itself, but they want to seize the opportunity to tell the story of a woman and how they could drive them to target and aim to grow their goals and ambitions.
“Women’s sports is an opportunity for strived inclusivity & equity particularly for the female gender. women’s football is growing in activations that is embraced across the world”
“We are seeing alot of adoption of women’s football and not only that, we see it as a tool to bring young men and women out of poverty, which servers as an opportunity for them to make a name for themselves in sports”
“The FIFA women’s world cup is growing in acceptance around the world and for us it goes beyond the football itself”
“Football is a sport with a lot of passion and alot of influence on people, so it is an opportunity for us to tell the story of the woman by showcasing the ability to bring equity and inclusion and also give young women the opportunity to target at something and aim to grow their goals and ambitions”
“Visa is sponsoring the FIFA women’s world cup because we see a huge opportunity to bring alot of young lady away from poverty driven situations and also to explore the opportunity football provides to bring inclusivity, equity and gender inclusion” he stated.
