Abuja, May 23, 2025 (NAN) Team FCT has been performing exceptionally well at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), currently taking place in Ogun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that at the end of Day 5 of the competition, the team had secured an impressive haul of 13 medals.
So far, Team FCT has clinched a total of: four gold medals (two in Ayo, one in golf, and one in Wushu Kung Fu), five silver medals (four in Weightlifting and one in an undisclosed event), three bronze medals (one each from Taekwondo, Beach Volleyball, and Weightlifting).
Earlier, In weightlifting, Esther Clement emerged as a standout performer, clinching one silver and two bronze medals, a testament to her rigorous training and resilience.
In the traditional game of Ayo, Team FCT captured two gold medals.
Jato Timothy took gold in the singles category, while Sarah Kyerkyaa triumphed in the female doubles event.
Kung Fu brought another silver to the team, courtesy of Goodluck Emmanuel, while Taekwondo delivered two bronze medals.
Chijioke Kalu (80kg) and Usman Muhammed (58kg) both fought valiantly to earn podium finishes.
Lukas Istefanus, FCT Director of Sports told NAN on Friday that with several sporting events yet to commence, Team FCT remain optimistic about increasing its medal tally.
“Expectations are high, and the athletes are determined to deliver outstanding performances in the remaining days of the festival,” he said.
The festival which began on May 16, will end on May 30.(NAN)
