Ten students of University of Nigeria, Nsukka has bagged Bestie instant noodles one year scholarship each in different categories of the students union government (SUG) partnership with bestie noodles corporate resposibility to encourage education in the country.
Bestie instant noodles in partnership with the students union government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka organised beauty peagent competition for both male and female students of the university where
the 10 students emerged in different categories of the award.
Speaking on behalf of the MD/CEO Bestie instant noodles limited Chief William Agbo (aka Son of Paddy), the corporate/media consultant of the company Mr Okwu Ugonweze said that the scholarship was part of what the group managing director Chief Agbo has set aside to invest in
education industry in the country, explaining that bestie noodles which is only six months old in Nigerian markets has concluded plans in phases to extend the students union government peagent competitions to other universities across the country.
Mr Okwu Ugonweze while presenting the Scholarship certificates to awardees at the colourful event said the scholarship was part of the company corporate responsibility to encourage students at every field of academic endavour to caution effect of tuition fees, adding that
the company just started with 10 students but the award is anually in Nigerian universities.
“The company will pay N50,000 each for one year academic session tuition fees for the 10 students in various categories of the
competition. The company is doing this as part of its social responsibility, to encourage students in education,” he said.
He said that the competition is not limited to universities alone, adding that it would be extended to polytechnics and colleges of education in the country.
“We started first with UNN because Nsukka is the home of bestie as the company is located in Nsukka local government area of Enugu state, next week the company will organise the same beauty compittion at Nnamdi Azikwe University Awka in Anambra state,” he said.
He described bestie instant noodles as one out of others that was born out of thorough research and approved by food expert because it had nutrients that would nourish the body.
In a remark Joshua Ezeja, UNN-SUG President, commended of bestie instant noodles for partnering with the students union government and awarding scholarship to 10 students that excel in the competition of different categories of the award night in the university.
” UNN students will remain grateful to management of bestie instant noodles for the kind gesture. I assure the company that students will continue to patronise bestie instant noodles as way of reciprocating
the scholarship to the 10 studets. ” he said.
Mr James Ajuchukwu, who won Mr UNN and Miss Chimamaka Nnaemeka who won
Miss UNN thanked God for the favour of being the best among equals.
They commended bestie instant noodles for the one year scholarship and said the scholarship spur studets of the uiversity to greater heights in the society, saying that one year scholarship will be a big financial relief to their parents.
Other students that bag the one year scholarship include: Miss Jane Onoyima who won Miss UNN tourism and Mr Elvis Nwankwo who won Mr UNN
tourism.
