Another attack on the police in Enugu State was launched on Tuesday when no fewer than four policemen were killed by unknown gunmen.
The invading gunmen attacked the police station at Iwollo in Ezeagu Local Government Area in the early hours of the day.
The attack turned bloody as four policemen were allegedly killed by the hoodlums who stormed the station in a Siena car and a bus.
The station was completely burnt down and the arms of the slain officers taken away.
“The men shot sporadically and we couldn’t even sleep. As the gunshot persisted, we started seeing heavy smoke. The attackers were there for more than 45 minutes if not one hour.

“When we got to the station this morning, I could count up to four dead bodies on the floor and the entire station was razed down. Their vehicles and motorcycles were destroyed,’’ a resident of the area said under conditions of anonymity.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, promised to get back to our correspondent when he gets the full details of the incident.
The police station was commissioned in 2016 and was built by the members of the community.
Similar attacks have been recorded in different parts of the state and other states in the South East.##
