A former naval officer, Commodore Kunle Olawumi , has painted a gloomy picture of Nigeria’s security, saying that some top government functionaries were working with Boko Haram to islamise the country.
OLawumi said during an interview with Sunrise Daily on Channels TV that the plan to islamise Nigeria was real and that he had knowledge of the plan.
The former intelligence officer revealed that he knew one top officer of the President Muhammuda Buhari’s government who he interrogated when he was still an officer and found culpable of sponsoring Boko Haram.
He further revealed that the man was released and he is part of the Buhari’s government.
He also said the terrorists arrested in 2012 mentioned some names and that some of the people mentioned by these boys are governors, senators, etc.
“…i can’t come on air now and start mentioning names of people that are presently in government that I know that these boys we arrested mentioned. Some of them are governors now, some of them are in the Senate and some of them are in Aso Rock.”
Olawumi further stated that he was an integral part of the team that played a role in bring President Buhari to power, adding that he was part of the team that convinced American government to work with Buhari, but that the government had taken Nigeria 60 years backwards by their actions.
“I have worked with President Buhari and I can tell you that there are plans to Islamise this country. I know one person that has been supporting Boko Haram that is part of this Buhari’s government.
“Let me tell you this, Buhari has failed. He is part of the problem of this country. I’m not afraid to die,” Commodore Olawumi said.
He said he had personally interrogated people in the Muhammadu Buhari government on the issue of Boko Haram, and found “a senior officer” culpable. However, “he was let go”. ##
