Akure, Feb. 4, 2026 — The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has raised concerns over storm-damaged billboards and streetlight adverts across parts of the state.
This is according to a statement issued by Yòmí Oyékàn, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor (Signage and Advertisement) on behalf of the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA).
Oyékàn said following recent rainstorms across parts of Ondo State, the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency had recorded widespread damage to billboards and streetlight advertisements.
He said the rainstorm caused defacement and structural damage, adding that “some installations now pose safety risks to residents and motorists.”
He advised all outdoor advertisers to immediately inspect, repair, reinforce or replace affected structures, citing public safety, environmental aesthetics and regulatory compliance.
“I urge all advertisers concerned to inspect and fix affected structures immediately.
“Maintenance is not optional but a responsibility under existing regulations.”
The agency said it would conduct a statewide assessment, warning that hazardous, unstable, defaced or non-compliant installations may be removed, sealed or sanctioned under existing regulations.
Advertisers were urged to act urgently to avoid enforcement actions, as the exercise is aimed at preventing accidents and protecting lives and property.
“OSSAA will conduct a statewide inspection, and any hazardous or non-compliant structure will be removed or sanctioned.
“This directive aims to prevent accidents, protect lives and property, and preserve the visual appeal of our environment,” Oyékàn said.
