Akure, Nov. 19, 2025 – The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has begun the removal of dilapidated and unauthorized signage structures and billboards across the state.

The exercise, according to the agency, aligns with Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s urbanisation and development plan and is aimed at enhancing public safety, improving urban aesthetics and ensuring compliance with outdoor advertising regulations.
Yomi Oyekan, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, told newsmen on Wednesday in Akure that many of the affected structures posed safety risks due to weakened conditions, poor installation or lack of proper approval.

He said the ongoing clean-up was necessary to prevent accidents, reduce visual pollution and restore orderliness to public spaces.
Oyekan said OSSAA’s Special Task Force had commenced removal activities in major streets, business districts and other strategic locations across the state.
He assured that the agency would continue to collaborate with advertisers, business owners and other stakeholders to maintain a safe and orderly outdoor advertising environment.

Oyekan advised residents and business operators to ensure that all signage installations follow due process and comply with approved safety and regulatory standards.
He said OSSAA remained committed to promoting environmental order and public safety through consistent enforcement and proactive urban management.
