Abuja, Aug. 17, 2024 (NAN) Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the President, Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), has extended his profound condolences to the families of the young golfers who lost their lives on their way to the IBB Junior Open Golf Championship in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the contingent from Ekiti for the 16th IBB Junior Open Golf championship were involved in a ghastly motor accident around Kabba, Kogi State on Wednesday.
The accident unfortunately claimed the lives of two young golfers, with two others sustaining injuries.
A statement by Runsewe and made available to NAN on Saturday in Abuja said that the NGF president commiserated with both the families of the young golfers affected and the entire members of the Ekiti Golf Club.
“Our hearts bleed for the two young golfers that lost their lives on Wednesday 14th Aug, 2024 on their way to the IBB Junior Open in Abuja in a ghastly motor accident around Kabba in Kogi State.
“The Nigeria Golf Federation commiserate with the families of these young golfers and the entire members of the Ekiti Golf Club.
“May God grant all the fortitude to bear this loss.
We pray for the quick recovery of the other two young golfers who sustained injuries from the accident and presently undergoing treatment,” he said.
NAN also reports that no fewer than 146 children from nine states and the FCT are participating in the championship which teed off on Thursday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja and expected to end on Sunday.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
