The Chairman South East Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, of Edem-Ani Nsukka, has donated the sum of Two Million Naira Only (N2,000,000.00) to visually impaired students of University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Igwe Asadu popularly known as Igwe Ogadagidi in a heartwarming display of generosity and community support, made the donation to the visually impaired students when they paid him homage in his palace at his Edem-Ani Nsukka country home, Enugu State.
He appreciated them for the visit and encouraged them to give their best in their academic pursuit.
Igwe Ogadagidi who is also the Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council said, “there is ability in disability and hence, I urge you to strive to succeed not minding the challenges you encounter. You should all remain resilient till you achieve your goals.
“This donation is for your educational expenses, to enable you all access essential support services tailored to your needs.
“It will also help you all to receive quality education that will empower each of you to reach your full potential and pursue your academic goals with confidence”.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation of the visually impaired students from UNN, Prince Sebastian Chiagozie, of the Political Science Department, said that they came to pay a royal homage to the revered Traditional Ruler.
Chiagozie also said, “we are also here to congratulate His Majesty on his inauguration as the Chairman of South East cum Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council and to further highlight the plight of visually impaired students in UNN.
Some of the visually impaired students who received the generous support from the traditional ruler expressed great sense of gratitude.
One of the students, Ejah Manifest, from Mass Communications Department, said, “This donation means the world to us. It gives us hope and motivation to pursue our dreams despite our challenges.”
In her own remarks, Nwazu Precious, from the Social Work Department, added, “We feel seen and valued, knowing that His Royal Majesty Igwe Ogadagidi is standing by us.”
Reacting also to the development, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, the Technical Assistant on Communication, Office Of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement, described the generosity and empathy of Igwe Asadu as life changer for the students.
Amb. Nwachukwu stated that the traditional ruler’s donation to support the visually impaired students exemplifies the power of kindness and generosity.
“Through this act of benevolence, you have not only provided financial assistance to these students but have instilled a sense of hope to the visually impaired students and their community,” He added.
