The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters in some parts of Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State have expressed delight over the unscheduled solidarity visits of the Executive Chairman of the council area, Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh to their wards, over the weekend, during their monthly ward meetings.
The council chairman who visited Nara Ward 1 and Ward 2, and Ugbawka Ward 1 and Ward 2 told the jubilant party faithful and other supporters that he decided to visit the grassroots’ meetings to identify with them and encourage them to be more proactive in reaching out to other members.
In his speeches at the different ward meetings, Edeh expressed satisfaction with the commitment of the party supporters and further charged them to continue to woo new members for the party as PDP would press on with its good governance delivery in the area.
Acknowledging cheers from the PDP supporters, Edeh stressed that the support the party was enjoying from the people would keep on attracting the presence of the state government, adding that the local government authority had vowed to reciprocate their commitment with more dividends of democracy, while confirming that the people have been feeling the impacts of the local government so far.
“I’m delighted that you came out for this monthly ward meeting in large numbers. This shows you’re faithful to the party and to our collective cause.
“Our government will continue to reciprocate your gesture through delivery of good governance, and the state is not taking for granted, your loyalty, commitment and dedication to the PDP.
“Whenever the dividends of democracy are coming down to our people, those of you that have always been active will be given utmost priority because you have been there for us through your support. We’ll take what we saw back to the governor and continue to remind him about your cooperation,” the council chairman said.
Edeh urging the people to take the message of the party to every household in the local government area, enjoined them to see PDP as their own and to continue to pray for all the candidates of the party, especially the state’s governorship flagbearer, Dr Peter Mbah.
He further encouraged them to continue to mobilize for the ward meetings and remain committed to its attendance saying it’s the most important party meeting in the state.
“You’re our source of strength and the resourceful persons we can count on in this ward. We will continue to support you in all you do. Our monthly meetings should be taken seriously by inviting others to join us in the PDP. Our party is the only party that has the capacity to deliver as it has been delivering on infrastructure, good roads, peace and security, and you’ll never be forgotten by our government,” Edeh added.
Expressing their delight at the presence of the chairman in their respective ward meetings, the leadership of the political party in the wards assured him of their unalloyed commitment to the PDP projects, saying Mbah is their only preferred candidate in the state.
Accompanying the chairman in the visits included the PDP local government chairman, Hon. Emeka Nwatu, Enugu East Senatorial Zone’s PDP chairman, Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor, State PDP Youth Leader, Hon. Patrick Okoh, PDP House of Assembly candidate for Nkanu East constituency, Hon. Okey Mbah, Hon. Chima Nwodo, among other party leaders.
