Abuja, June 19, 2022 (NAN) The National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) have commended Mr. Ejiro Otarigho, a tanker driver, for his display of heroism and strong will to save lives and properties.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Mr Otarigho had last week averted what could have been a national disaster after he drove a burning tanker away to a safe place where it exploded into an inferno in Delta state.
A statement by Dr Festus Daniel, NISCN National President, said the act of benevolence shown by
Otarigho was worthy of recognition and commendation, adding that his act was in sync with the values of NISCN which was to keep Nigeria safe.
Daniel commended him for the rare display of patriotism, humanity, bravery and heroism and noted that the incident would have resulted in the death of many persons and destruction of property at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area where the fire started.
“In NISCN we don’t just know safety but we practice safety and that’s why the act by Otarigho has indeed captured our hearts and drawn our admiration for him.
“We commend him for his action and glad to announce that Mr Otarigho has now become an Ambassador of NISCN for his display of heroism and passion for safety of lives and properties.
“The Council will indeed continue to celebrate him and recognise others like him who are dedicated to love for humanity and practice such acts of bravity and benevolence,” he said.
The president stressed that what he did could not be translated to money and worth more than anything anyone could offer to him, adding that he should understand that people appreciated him for the action.
He urged him not to relent in his efforts, but to continue to do his best for humanity, noting that being appreciated by people coupled with other accolades for his action showed that doing good for the public was not in vain. (NAN)
