The Independent National Election Commission has warned that this year general elections face a serious threat of cancellation if the ravegin insecurity is not propally tackled.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubub who was represented by the chairman Board of Electoral Institute (BEI), Prof Abudullahi Abudu Zuru gave the warning during the validation of Election security Training Resource held in Abuja on Monday.
we will appreciate the fact that Election security is vital to democratic consolidation through the provision of enabling environment for the conduct of free, fair, credible and inclusive Election thereby strengthening the electoral process in Nigeria.
Consequently, in preparation for for the forth coming general election, the commission is not leaving anything to chance in making sure that intensive and extensive security is provided for the election personel, material and process.
He further stated that the National security adviser (NSA) Babagana Monguno (Retd) and the INEC Chairman had jointly assured the Nation that a condusive environment would be provided for succesfull conduct of the 2023 general election.
