The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly (ANSHA), Dr Somtochukwu Udeze,has been elected as the South-East vice chairman of conference of speakers of state legislatures in Nigeria in Abuja during their conference
Mr Emma Madu, Chief Press Secretary, to the speaker stated this in a press statement he made available to newsmen on Thursday in Awka.
He said that the conference of speakers of state legislatures in Nigeria elected new leaders to pilot the affairs of the conference for the collective interest of various state legislatures towards ensuring a robust legislative institution aimed at promoting the rule of law and good governance in the country.
The statement further reads that Udeze in his acceptance speech as the Vice Chairman, South East Conference of Speakers of State legislatures in Nigeria, assured the conference that he will use his wealth of experience as a three time elected legislator to promote legislative excellence and leadership.
Udeze assured the people of South East zone of his preparedness to champion a collective legislation that will foster regional development among the five States of the South East in line with the guiding principles of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria,.
He expressed gratitude to the conference for the trust imposed on him while soliciting support from his colleagues, Governors of the South East as well as the Nigerian masses.
The statement also revealed that the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Dennis Guwor was elected as the Chairman of the Conference.
The statement also said that six vice chairmen were elected to represent the country’s six geopolitical zones which includes.Bilaminu Ismael from Zamfara State (North West), .Mohammed Abubakar from Gombe State (North East), Yusuf Umar from Kogi State (North Central) Abraham Ngobere from Bayelsa State (South South) and Adeoye Aribasoye from Ekiti State (South West)
