The “Tomorrow is Here Movement” has formally inaugurated it’s Ward coordinators across the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, with the charge to mobilize the people at the grassroots for the second term re-election bid of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027.
The event, which took place at the Ugwuoye Primary School field Nsukka, witnessed a significant political development as stakeholders publicly declared their support for Mbah ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The event drew a large turnout of political leaders, party faithful, community stakeholders, and supporters from across the local government area.
It was a convergence of the “who is who” in the politics of Nsukka LGA, who gathered to pledge their support for the governor’s second-term bid.
Speaking at the occasion, President of the movement, Hon. Tony Okwudili Okonkwo, said the inauguration ceremony was convened to formally empower ward coordinators of the “Tomorrow Is Here Movement” to mobilize support at the grassroots.
Okonkwo highlighted the developmental strides recorded under Governor Mbah’s administration in Enugu State, describing him as a monumental achiever.
In his welcome address, the Nsukka Local Government coordinator of the movement, Hon. Ozo Ugwuja Chika, commended Governor Mbah for executing numerous projects within a short period in office.
He said that the administration’s achievements had simplified the task of mobilizing for 2027 re-election bid.
In the same vein, a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emma Ugwuerua, urged the “Tomorrow Is Here Movement” to champion the governor’s re-election campaign, emphasising that unity and strategic grassroots engagement was key to consolidating the gains recorded so far.
Also, the APC Zonal Woman Leader, Hon. Ngozi Ezeja, also recounted a recent engagement with women in Nsukka, where she clarified concerns regarding the governor’s political direction.
She said that the governor had executed some tangible projects, which makes it easy to market him to the electorate for 2027 re-election.
Two serving members of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Nsukka, LGA, Hon. Pius Ezugwu and Hon. Malachy Onyechi, used the event to reaffirm their loyalty to the governor.
Speaking, Ezugwu stated that since his election in 2023, he had regarded Governor Mbah as a political mentor, pledging to ensure overwhelming support for the APC in 2027.
In his speech, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government, Council, Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa, described the governor as a “pillar of good governance and a master strategist. “
He declared that there would be “no vacancy in the Lion Building” in 2027, stressing that political activities in Nsukka LGA would henceforth focus on securing the governor’s return in 2027.
Also, the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly in his speech, outlined key achievements of the administration, particularly in the education sector.
He noted that the Smart School programme had provided free education, free uniforms, and one meal daily for pupils, thereby positioning children in the state for global competitiveness.
According to him, it was the responsibilities of parents and ward leaders to ensuring the success of the Smart School programme.
“The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and equal opportunity for all children, regardless of background, ” he said.
While inaugurating the ward coordinators, Hon. Tony Okwudili Okonkwo, urged the stakeholders to continue mobilising at the grassroots and to always remember the governor in their prayers.
Okonkwo thereafter, formally inaugurated the ward coordinators and the students wing of the movement, charging them to return to their respective wards to educate residents on the administration’s achievements and the need for continuity in 2027.
Some of the stakeholders at the event included traditional rulers, market women, among others.
Also, two former Chairmen of the Nsukka Local Government, Hon. Tony Ugwu (Odera) and Hon. Walter Ozioko, were in attendance, alongside other prominent political actors.
Their presence underscored what was described as a “broad-based consensus” within the local government in support of the governor.
Hon. Onyishi Hyginus Chikamso, described the event as very successful, adding that the “Tomorrow is Here Movement” was poised to getting total support for the governor ahead of 2027.
The event was attended by other numerous dignitaries, including Hon. Cletus Akalusi, Hon. Obiajulu Princess Ugwu, Hon. Osita Aji, Chief Hon. Vitalis Okonkwo (oil money), Chief Mrs. Nkiru Ugwuagu (Onwa Ezeagu), Hon. Mrs. Joy Odike (Commissioner Civil service Commission).
Others are Chief Chirote Odoh (Messiah na Nsukka), Eddy Ajibo, Ossy Aji, Hon. Ishiwu Clinton, Dr. Ikechukwu Onugwu, Chief IkeAchalla, Bar Seth Nwokolo, Bar Brendan Odo, Chief Charles Ezenta, Hon. Theo Chukwu, Hon. Michael Odo, Hon. Tony Ugwuja, Hon. Celestine Omeje, Obiora Ugwuoke, alongside women groups, party leaders, student activists, community leaders, religious faithful, and loyalists of the state government.
