The Secretary General of Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the CoalCity 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF), Olumide Bamiduro has said that both the committee and National Sports Commission (NSC) are very impressed with the facilities by the Enugu State Government for the games.
Bamiduro stated this after a two-day facility tour by the LOC and the NSC, to facilities being put in place by the state government in preparation for the games.
He expressed satisfaction with some of the facilities including the Hostel accommodation athletes, training camps and others ahead of the 23rd National Sports festival, tagged “CoalCity 2026 Games”.
Speaking to newsmen after the two-days facility-tour, Bamiduro commended Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State for putting up a brand new hostel facility at Government Technical College (GTC) Smart Green School meant for the accommodation of athlete’s.
“” We went round Enugu; the highpoint of the inspection visit is the brand new edifice at GTC, Smart Green School, that is being put in place and will most likely accommodate about 3000 athletes.
“We went round for on the spot assessment of the infrastructures that the Enugu State Local Organising Committee, made available to the National Sports Commission inspection Team.
“The facilities were very impressive, and the NSC too has expressed satisfaction with the facilities on ground for the festival, ” he said.
He said that he was happy that the team from Abuja had on their own also testified that Enugu was ready.
” I want to use this opportunity to tell doubting Thomases that, Enugu is ready for the games next year, ” Bamiduro said.
He encouraged residents of Enugu State to continue to be hospitable and support the government in its efforts towards providing world class facilities for the festival.
