You’re not perfect but indeed you’re an icon to emulate from. Hopefully one day, if given opportunity to serve my father land, I will help in making our state a better one for NDI ENUGU STATE. CHUKWU BULU GI UZO”.
The above paragraph was a statement appreciating Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, made by Don Eze Ugo on Facebook while reacting to the post on the donation of 65 security vehicles to the Nigerian Police by Enugu state Government recently.
Recall that the sixty-five (65) patrol vans were among the 100 units of Innoson vehicles recently purchased by Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration to assist the security agencies in the state to effectively discharge their duties to enhance peace, security and development.
Recall also that the Governor while unveiling the vehicles to journalists at the Government House, Enugu, explained that the 100 units of the patrol vans will be handed over to the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, among others.
The governor equally said that 260 vehicles as well as motorcycles and bicycles would be distributed to the Forest Guards and Vigilante/Neighbourhood Watch groups for community policing.
In line with this development, a Survey conducted on comments of Facebook users on this subject matter, however shows that out of the 100 comments reviewed, about 80 percent poured encomium on Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for matching words with action in ensuring effective and adequate security in the state through his logistical support to the security agencies in the state.
While some commentators are of the view that the Police should endeavour to make good use of the vehicles to achieve the purpose it was bought, others commended the governor for encouraging local content development through his procurement of the Vehicles from Innoson manufacturing limited.
