A+er years of turmoil, incessant complaints, and bombardment of government offices and the legislative chambers with serious concerns about their President-General, known in EnugwuAgidi as the Problem PG, the people of Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, have finally suspended Mr. Ebuka David Onuorah as the President-General of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU Nigeria).
EBU Nigeria is the central socio-cultural organiza=on and the highest authority in Enugwu-Agidi town embracing all her indigenes.
In a letter dated 20th November 2025, the Central Execuive Committee (CEC), a major leadership organ of the EBU-Nigeria convened an emergency meeting attended by over two-third majority of its members which included nine out of thirteen members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and suspended Mr. Ebuka David Onuorah on a 17-count violation of EBU Nigeria’s Constitution with immediate effect.
Most of the alleged violations which included serious allegations of embezzlement, pervasive fraud, lack of accountability, transparency, land grabbing, and molestation of the indigenes with armed thugs, have been the talk of the town since the inception of Mr. Ebuka Onuorah’s administration on 29th December 2022.
The last straw that broke the Camel’s back was Mr. Onuorah’s latest action – an attempt to change the date of the town union’s general election to 16th December 2025 in order to disenfranchise a large majority of the indigenes from participating in the election which the town Union usually holds on 29th December when most indigenes have returned home for the Christmas.
The letter of suspension which listed this acton as a brazen act was taken by Mr. Ebuka Onuorah without holding a National Executive Committee meeting to discuss the date as stipulated in the constitution of EBU Nigeria.
The people believe that Mr. Onuorah is determined to rig the December 2025 election in order to secure a second term in office by disenfranchising a majority indigenes from participating in the election.
Many indigenes of Enugwu-Agidi, a once-peaceful town and a part of Awka Capital Territory, have lived in fear since the emergence of PG Ebuka Onuorah.
They perceive him as a land grabber, who does not have any legitimate source of livelihood even though he lives large and parades the villages of Enugwu-Agidi in a fleet of six-vehicle convoy including a Mercedes Benz G-Guard and pickup trucks loaded with armed thugs.
In the suspension letter signed by nine out of 13 members of Ebuka Onuorah’s led National Executive Council of EBU-Nigeria, including the Legal Adviser of the Union; the Vice President-General, Ozo Kenechukwu Okoye, stated that the town is fed up with PG Ebuka Onuorah’s leadership and that it is time for a change.
He stated that Mr. Onuorah lacked respect for the customs and traditions of the town and has violated the town’s constitution with impunity.
In Page 1 of 2, the constitutional infractions which the CEC listed as the grounds for Mr. Ebuka Onuorah’s suspension mentioned, among other things, how he used thugs to desecrate the palace of HRM Igwe M.C. Okekeuche, Okpalariam III of Enugwu-Agidi and suspended some members of his royal Cabinet.
The CEC cited an incident that occurred in 2024 when PG Ebuka Onuorah illegally announced the suspension of Ichie Sir (Dr.) Osita Anameze as the Onowu of Enugwu-Agidi, the highest-ranking member of the Igwe’s Cabinet without any justification and in flagrant violation of the EBU-Nigeria.
The situaton was so bad to the extent that it attracted the attention of Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government Area, Town Union and Chieftaincy Matters, who issued a scathing Letter of Reprimand to Mr. Ebuka Onuorah.
In his letter to Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, the Commissioner pointed out that Mr. Ebuka Onuorah violated the constitution of Enugwu-Agidi town union and warned him to refrain from interfering with matters concerning the Royal Throne of Okpalariam Enugwu-Agidi.
The Interim PG handed a copy of the Commissioner’s letter dated 23rd May 2024 to newsmen for publications.
The news of the Mr. Ebuka Onuorah’s suspension was received in Enugwu-Agidi as a breath of fresh air.
Many villagers, particularly the youths, took to the streets singing and thanking God for answering their prayers.
While the youths were jubilating and rejoicing, a few elderly people appeared subdued because they felt that Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, who parades the town with truckload of thugs, might resort to violence.
Some of the elderly people referred to a recent incident on 26th September 2025, when Mr. Ebuka Onuorah ordered his armed thugs to lockout and assault some members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), who are mostly Chairmen of various EBU Nigeria branches located all over the country and stopped them from entering the town’s Secretariat for the quarterly meeting of the CEC.
Nevertheless, Ozo Kenechukwu Okoye, the Interim President-General, who addressed the joyous crowd appeared composed and ready to usher in peace and the long-awaited good governance to Enugwu-Agidi people.
His speech to the Enugwu-Agidi people included the assurances that the unilateral, disruptive decision by Mr. Ebuka Onuorah to change the date of the town’s Triennial General Conference (MASS RETURN) Election from 29th December to 16th December will be reversed to the regular date of 29th December 2025 when most of the indigenes are expected to return home for Christmas.
