A member of Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Okey Mbah, has paid Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination fees for 250 students.
Mbah, representing Nkanu East State Constituency and Chairman of House Committee on Housing and Foreign Investment, disclosed this in an interview with Journalists.
He said that the payment was made for the 250 indigent students in his constituency to ensure continuation of their academic pursuit within the three years he had represented them in the assembly.
The lawmaker, who is also a first timer to the House, said that he had focused on provide updates on legislative activities as well as discussed and attracted developmental projects to his constituency as well.
Mbah highlighted his achievements since he assumed office in 2023 to include sponsoring some bills, motions, constituency projects, and following up budget implementation in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and
security.
He noted that he had carried out supervisory functions and monitored implementation of numerous state government road projects, healthcare, education, boreholes, electricity, security and many others projects within his constituency.
He pointed out that the committee, which he is the chairman, had resolved over 35 petitions brought before it peacefully.
He emphasised that he had been engaging with his constituents, noting that the engagement was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
“Constant interaction with my constituents provides an opportunity for me to render an account of my stewardship and, more importantly, to listen to their concerns and suggestions,” he said.
The lawmaker applauded Gov. Peter Mbah for the tremendous development his administration had brought to his constituency and Enugu State in general within three years in office.
